Thank you MomTrends for inviting us to the WellieWishers event and American Girl for hosting us!
If you’re a fan of American Girl, you might already know about the recently launched WellieWishers Dolls that are now available. The WellieWishers are a group of five sweet and silly girls who each have the same big, bright wish: to be a good friend! The dolls are perfect for girls ages 5-7 and helps children discover the social and emotional skills that encourage empathy, compassion, and thoughtfulness.
E turned five in April and like a lot of little girls this age, she loves playing with dolls. She’s very into imaginative and creative play so when I first heard about the WellieWishers, I knew they were right up her alley! She was very excited when I told her about the WellieWishers event we would be attending.
At the event we had the chance to hear from Valerie Tripp who is known for her work with the American Girl series and is now writing the WellieWishers books! Mrs. Tripp was such a delight and I loved listening to her discuss the new characters. For me, it was a pretty incredible experience to get to meet the author of some of my favorite American Girl stories that I grew up with. I loved being able to share this with my daughter who will get to explore Mrs. Tripp’s work as well.
Meet the WellieWishers
Willa has a love for animals. She’s sure to be the first one up a tree—and the last to turn away a furry friend. The 14.5″ Willa doll has hazel eyes and silky strawberry-blond hair in long pigtails.
Ashlyn is a princess-in-training (and party-planner extraordinaire). She’s just the one to turn a friend’s frown upside-down. The 14.5″ Ashlyn doll has brown eyes, freckled cheeks, and long silky brown hair.
Kendall is creative—she’s always drawing and inventing. Leave it to her to patch friendly mix-ups with smiles, patience, and a handmade card. The 14.5″ Kendall doll has deep-brown eyes and curly black hair in pigtails.
Emerson loves the spotlight—and the spotlight loves her right back. She loves to make her friends smile with funny jokes, original dance routines, and show-stopping songs. The 14.5″ Emerson doll has dark-brown eyes and black hair in curly pigtails.
Camille adores the ocean—and she’s mellow as a mermaid. She’s the one her friends turn to when they need someone to listen. The 14.5″ Camille doll has blue eyes, a freckle on one cheek, and silky blond hair.
E had the opportunity to pick a doll to take home with her. She chose Willa becasue she liked her bunny ears and ladybug rainboots, totally her sense of style! When E saw that Willa has freckles and a love for animals just like she does, she had her heart set on her.
WellieWishers garden-themed accessories are also available. Accessories include a theater stage, wooden playhouse featuring over 30 pieces, and more!
Your child can also dress like their favorite WellieWishers character with a selection of clothing, PJs or a pair of peek-a-boo wellies. I plan on getting E a Happy Hedgehog outfit and a pair of wellies to match her Willa doll.
We were very lucky to get to bring home a signed copy of Ashlyn’s Unsurprise Party, one of the illustrated early chapter books in the WellieWishers series written by Valerie Tripp. Ideal for girls ages 5 to 7, the books bring to life the adventures of the WellieWishers as they play and imagine in Willa’s Aunt’s backyard garden. The books will be available for purchase this fall at the very reasonable price of $5.99 for each book. Make sure to keep an eye out! At the moment we are on chapter four of Ashlyn’s Unsurprise Party. This is E’s first chapter book and so far, she’s really enjoying it!
WellieWishers Animated Series
We also had a sneak peak of the WellieWishers’ all-new animated series which is coming this fall! The animated series is American Girl’s first-ever and each 11-minute episode will follow the fun-filled exploits of the WellieWishers characters.
The WellieWishers dolls are available now for the price of $60 and right now, you can take advantage of free shipping on WellieWishers until July 31st when ordering from the americangirl.com. The dolls can also be purchased through American Girl’s catalogue and at all American Girl retail locations nationwide.
