Teething is a stage that all infants go through and can begin as early as three months old. With some infants, you don’t even notice that they’re teething but with most, You’ll notice symptoms and signs of their discomfort right away. Some common symptoms of teething include drooling, swollen gums, and irritability and your baby may even refuse to eat. Another symptom is that your little one might be trying to chew or suck on anything they can get their hands on. With that being said, One of the best ways to relieve their discomfort is by providing your teething baby with something to chew on such as a teething toy.
All infants are different and some prefer soft teething toys while others like to gnaw on ones with a smooth or even bumpy surface. There are so many options out there for your teething baby and this is why I prepared a list of the best teething toys based on our experience! These are all teething toys we have used (and continue to use) with our babies or have been highly recommended to me by other moms.
Sophie the Giraffe
Sophie the Giraffe is quite popular and although we don’t personally own one, I’ve had mommy friends rave about how amazing it is! The soft giraffe is made of 100% natural rubber and food paint and is free of Phthalates and BPA. The giraffe is very soft to touch, visually stimulating and even squeaks when squeezed! Sophie also has many parts that your baby can grab on to which is perfect for little hands and promotes fine motor skills.
Infantino Squeeze & Teethe
This is an excellent lower cost alternative to Sophie the Giraffe and comes in a few designs which include a lamb, a lion, a monkey, a cow, a zebra and an elephant which is what baby Aric has!
These Infantino Squeeze and Teethe toys are made with a soft flexible natural rubber and is easy for your baby to grab onto.
There are so many Taggies options to choose from including blankets, plush toys, rattles, lovies, and more! All Taggies products are super soft and machine washable. When Aric first started showing signs of teething, he got the most comfort out of his Taggies Little Plush Blanket which he would chew on. Not only is his Taggie Blanket a source of comfort, it’s visually stimulating with its bright colors and engaging tags which encourage the development of fine motor skills. The blanket measures 12x12in, making it perfect for home or on-the-go! Aric also enjoys his other Taggies toys which include a monkey lovie and plush Taggies Tag n’ Play Pals Puppy which unfortunately is discontinued but still available on Amazon!
Bright Starts Snuggle Teether
What’s great about the Bright Starts Snuggle Teether is that it features teether feet that can soothe baby’s gums and soft body for your baby to cuddle with. The teether comes in three fun characters which include a monkey, a giraffe and and elephant. This particular teether we had with both kids! E had the giraffe when she was an infant and Aric currently uses his monkey.
The bright colors and crinkle bellies are quite stimulating and the teether encourages those fine motor skills in infants. Your teething baby will love cuddling with their new pal plus get comfort for their sore gums by being able to chew on those teether feet!
Nuby Wacky Teething Ring
I kid you not, we seriously have like three of these becasue of how much Aric enjoys them! The BPA free teether features multiple teething surfaces and is ideal for all stages of teething. The surfaces include a soft silicone for the front teeth, larger surfaces for middle teeth and a firm surface for back teeth. Not only does it soothe baby’s sore gums, the easy to hold teether has a colorful soft fabric that crinkles and stimulates the senses.
Nuby Bug A Loop Teether Bead
Both E and Aric had a Nuby Bug A Loop Teether Bead. The teether has multiple textured surfaces and is ideal for back teeth teething. The bright colored teether is BPA free and easy for your baby to hold!
Little Toader Appe-Teethers Teething Toys
Not only are these teethers cool looking, they are made of 100% food grade silicone and are BPA, lead, PVC, and phthalate free! Aric had the LOL! Sucker which looks like one of those lollipops you would purchase at a candy store.
The surface is soft and smooth, perfect for gumming on. Appe-teethers are available in chomping chicken wing, baby-q ribs, broccoli bites, sucker, ice cream u scream, Waah’ffle, and no pain apple. Not only will it soothe your baby’s gums, adults will get a kick out of the fun designs!
