Hi all! Momma T and Family was recently invited to take a trip to Philly to hang out with Choice Hotels‘ Choice People Person. Unfortunately I could not make it but, I was able to send my good friend and blogging buddy Virginia of Mom in Love Forever! I am thrilled to have her guest post today and you can read about her experience below!
Hey everyone! I’m Virginia from MomInLoveForever.com. I was so excited when Trisha invited me to cover this Philly trip for her a few weekends ago. Even though NYC isn’t far from Philadelphia, I had never visited the “City Of Brotherly Love” before. I was really excited for this trip! Visit Philly put together an amazing itinerary for us! Best of all I’d be hanging out with Choice Hotels #ChoicePeoplePerson Andrea Fasano, and fellow blogger Reesa from MommaLew.com!
The minute I met Andrea I knew she was the perfect pick for the Ultimate People Person! The Ultimate People Person role was created to celebrate the relaunch of the Choice Hotels brand and bring people together through travel and establishing meaningful in-person connections. Andi was super friendly! Her personality just radiated through her smile. Her energy was great. Couldn’t wait to explore with her! Follow the #ChoicePeoplePerson hashtag to follow Andrea on her journey around the U.S.A.
For this Philly trip we were booked at the Sleep Inn on Cherry Street in Philadelphia. I have to say, I was very impressed with my room! Sleep Inn brand hotels across the country are adopting a new look and feel called Designed to Dream- to help encourage restful slumber in a relaxing yet stylish environment. Additionally, Designed to Dream lobbies provide a flexible open floor plan, free internet (who doesn’t LOVE free internet?!) ,comfortable chairs and couches where guests can relax, work or just socialize!
Though I loved my room at the Sleep Inn, I couldn’t wait to explore the streets of Philly! After dropping off my bags and freshening up, I met Andrea, Reesa along with Sarah & Scott from the Choice Hotels PR team at the hotel lobby and off we went to explore! So much to do and see! Here are some highlights from my trip:
Philly Magic Gardens
1020 South St, Philadelphia, PA 19147
Did you know that Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens covers an indoor and outdoor space equivalent to half a city block! PMG glistens with creativity, urban renaissance and a hint of madness! Isaiah Zagar is the genius behind the Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens! He is a local artist constructed the space out of cement, bicycle spokes, bottles, ceramic shards and other artistic knick-knacks.
Ralph’s Italian Restaurant
760 S. 9th Street Philadelphia, PA 19147
Ralph’s is America’s oldest Italian restaurant. I had the best ChickenParmigian EVER there! Actually, everything we ordered was amazing! Next time I’m in town I want to try their famous sausage and peppers! If you love Italian food, you have to visit Ralph’s! Oh- and right next to Ralph’s is Sarcone’s Bakery. You have to stop there and get some cannoli’s!
The Liberty Bell
6th St & Market St, Philadelphia, PA 19106
The Liberty Bell is an iconic symbol of American independence! There is no way you can visit Philly without stopping by to see the Liberty Bell. The Liberty Bell bears a timeless message: “Proclaim Liberty Throughout All the Land Unto All the Inhabitants thereof”. I really enjoyed learning and refreshing my memory on American History!
Rocky Steps aka Philadelphia Museum of Art
2600 Benjamin Franklin Pkwy, Philadelphia, PA 19130
Now I didn’t actually get to explore the Philadelphia Museum of Art, but I did run up the 72 stone steps aka the infamous “Rocky Steps” from the triple-Oscar-winning film Rocky! However, next time I am in town I want to explore the The Philadelphia Museum of Art. It is among the largest art museums in the United States!
15TH STREET AND JOHN F. KENNEDY BLVD. PHILADELPHIA, PA 19102
The City of Brotherly Love’s best-known landmark is LOVE itself — the Robert Indiana sculpture in John F. Kennedy Plaza. Definitely had to stop and take a pic of the iconic landmark!
Pat’s King of Steaks
1237 E Passyunk Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19147
The Philly cheesesteak is Philly’s most famous food! For those of you who don’t know, a cheesesteak consists of chopped (or thinly sliced) steak and a choice of cheeses and/or fried onions on a hoagie roll. Geno’s or Pat’s? Well on this trip I tried Pat’s! I can’t say which place is better, but my cheesesteak from Pat’s was pretty awesome! Next time I’m in town I’ll give Geno’s a try!
My weekend in Philadelphia with the #ChoicePeoplePerson was so much fun! Thanks #VisitPhilly for the awesome list of things to do. I had such a blast and can’t wait to visit again!
