Who doesn’t love a girls night out? I recently had the opportunity to attend a screening of Hot Pursuit presented by Warner Brothers and SheKnows Media with a few of my lady friends! Since having baby number two in December, I honestly haven’t been out much so I was looking forward to the screening and catching up with friends! Hot Pursuit is a new comedy from New Line Cinema and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures starring Academy Award winner Reese Witherspoon (“Walk the Line,” “Wild”) and Sofía Vergara (“Chef,” TV’s “Modern Family”), under the direction of Anne Fletcher (“The Proposal”). In Hot Pursuit, Reese Witherspoon plays an uptight and by-the-book cop who tries to protect the sexy and outgoing widow (played by Vergara) of a drug boss as they race through Texas, pursued by crooked cops and murderous gunmen. When we arrived at the venue, my friend Lisa and I gravitated over to the popcorn station that was set up and gave you the option to mix and match popcorn flavors. The popcorn flavors were very interesting and this was the first time I’ve ever tried a Margarita Lime flavored treat like this! A popcorn station is such a great idea if you are looking to host a little fun in your own home before a girls night out! There was also a candy station filled with sweet, sour, and hot treats like Atomic Fireballs! Once everyone was settled in the theater and the movie started paying, the laughs were almost instant when we see a young Cooper (played by Witherspoon) taking notes in the back of her father’s police car. Without spoiling the movie for you, as they are on the run, the two women see themselves being described by newscasters with Cooper as shorter and shorter and and Vergara’s character as older, making both women pretty angry! Sofia Vergara and Reese Witherspoon have such an amazing onscreen chemistry which makes the film a lot of fun to watch!
Although we’ve never been chased by cops or murderous gunman, the hijinks in the film reminded me of the hijinks my childhood bestie and I would get into as teens!
Are you looking to go on your own girls night out? Here are some tips for planning a successful girls night out!
- Grab your friends and plan ahead! Your friends may be at different stages of life so although you may not have little ones, your friends might and will need to find childcare before the big night!
- Take public transportation! If you are partaking in adult beverages and don’t want to worry about a designated driver, take a train, bus, or cab if available!
- Make sure your phone is charged. You never know when a picture worthy moment will arise! Always charge your phone fully ahead of time or bring along a power bank which can be conveniently carried in your purse or clutch! Here’s one of my favorite picture worthy moments from the evening:
