Last week, E and I were invited to attend the Build-A-Bear Times Square Grand Opening! Sharon John, Build-A-Bear Workshop’s CEO was there to cut the ribbon and welcomed guests to Build-A-Bear’s newest pop-up store in Times Square to help celebrate the arrival of Olaf, Elsa Bear, and Anna Bear!
Children in attendance were invited to come in costume dressed as their favorite Frozen characters so of course E arrived in style dressed as Elsa!
Event attendees were encouraged to build a “Stuffed with Hugs” bear that was then donated to the 92nd Street Y who will distribute the teddy bears to local children in need of a hug! E (age 3) is just starting to understand the concept of giving and charity so she was excited to be able to make a bear for a little girl or boy. Although E has been to Build-A-Bear before, She has never actually built her own bear so I think she was incredibly lucky to have her first Build-A-Bear experience with Build-A-Bear CEO, Sharon John!
When introduced, E and Sharon shared a “warm hug”! Sharon was so kind and patient with E and even listened to her talk about Frozen and her “pretty Elsa dress.”
E, Sharon, and the lovely Build-A-Bear associate added stuffing to the “Stuffed with Hugs” bear. Once stuffed, E and Sharon gave this extra special bear not one, but two hearts filled with wishes! The whole process was a lot of fun to watch. After building the Stuffed with Hugs bear, E had the chance to meet Bearemy, the Build-A-Bear Mascot! They took a photo together posing with the bear she had just made.
At the Times Square Build-A-Bear Workshop store, there are over 30 animals to chose from including the Frozen themed bears as well as other characters. Some of our favorites include the My Little Pony Princess Celestia and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer! The Build-A-Bear associates are so helpful with the whole process! From choosing a bear to customization, and associate is there to offer their help every step of the way!
We headed home with Olaf who sings “In Summer” when you press his foot. On our next trip to Build-A-Bear, we plan on picking up a pair of sunglasses for Olaf as well as his outfit which includes a shirt and hat. I’d love to also take home Jolly Santa and one of Santa’s Reindeer. Each Reindeer includes a Team Santa Medallion which unlocks exclusive games in the aoo Santa’s Merry Mission which is FREE and available in the iTunes App Store or Google Play. You can read more about Team Santa here!
