By now your kids have settled into their back-to- school routine. For my family and many others, Our routine includes a family movie night. Our family movie night just so happens to be on a Friday since it’s not as busy as other nights in the week. Typically on this night we’ll eat dinner, sometimes play a game, then watch a movie together.

Our recent family movie night consisted of watching ParaNorman on Netflix and pizza for dinner. ParaNorman is rated PG and can be a little scary at times for smaller kids but 3-year-old E loves it! At one point, we paused the movie in our living room and finished watching it in our bedroom. It’s a fun movie to view around Halloween so I’m pretty sure we’ll end up watching it again in the coming month!
Family movie night has always been pizza night and to save money, we’ve thought of some fun and creative ways to make our own pizza! We’ve done pizza bagels, english muffin pizzas, and most recently mini biscuit pizzas which are fun to make and the whole family can take part in before settling in to watch a show or movie on Netflix! Check out the simple recipe below!
Mini Biscuit Pizzas
(Makes 16 mini pizzas or 8 servings)
- 2 packages canned biscuits
- 1 pkg pepperoni slices (or other desired toppings)
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 small jar pizza sauce
- Place biscuits on two ungreased cookie sheets. Press down with fingers to flatten each biscuit.
- Spread 1-2 Tbsp pizza sauce over each biscuit, and top with 2-3 Tbsp shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Lastly, top with pepperoni slices, or other pizza toppings. Bake according to directions on biscuit package.
Being pizza fans, the whole family really enjoys eating these. We typically serve with salad at dinner time or just snack on them together while we’re watching a film during our family movie night.
What are your family movie night traditions? What types of shows or movies do you enjoy watching with your kids?
