My my niece and nephews have been out of school on summer vacation for about a month now but just because they are out of school doesn’t mean that the learning stops! Of course they are kept busy with outdoor and indoor activities but when they need to beat the heat, We treat them to Netflix! We don’t let them just watch anything though! Did you know that Netflix has excellent children’s programming available for streaming? Whether it’s a documentary about dinosaurs or the moon, you can keep your little ones’ brains active all summer long! Here are some titles that may pique your child’s interest:
For the bigger kids, check out these titles:
My other suggestions:
While browsing around, my nephew Angel and I came across this neat show called Myth Hunters which is a series that uncovers the truth behind some real-life treasure hunts in modern history. I feel like this is a great show for older kids, especially ones that are into history! Even my husband who has always been a big history buff was really into this show. Episodes include The Quest for Noah’s Ark, Hitler and the Spear of Destiny, Raider Ron and the Lost Ark and others.
How It’s Made is a another show that I fell that older kids may be interested in. If you’re not familiar with the show, the series visits factories around the world to reveal how everyday items are created. It’s definitely a show that the whole family can enjoy and it’s Common Sense Media Rating is OK for kids 7+!
For your little ones, check out these recommendations:
1. The Great Mouse Detective
2. Busytown Mysteries
3. LeapFrog: Math Adventures to the Moon
4. Turtle: The Incredible Journey
5. The Magic School Bus
My other recommendations:
There are so many shows on Netflix that aim to feed your child’s mind with knowledge! Some of my current favorites that I allow E and her cousins to watch are Wild Kratts, World Girl, Super Why as well as others. The educational content of the programming Netflix provides varies in subject, from math, science, history, and others!
What have your kids been watching on Netflix this summer?
