Companies have come out with this really awesome way to feed your kids while traveling or just more conveniently than carrying around a jar and spoon and bib, it’s called a pouch. These little things usually cost between $1-$3 each depending on which brand and type you want to purchase. If you are like me raising a family of 3 kids $2 a pouch tends to get a bit expensive. I like to make my own baby food which is one main reason I was super excited to get 3 EZ Squeezee pouches to try for a review.
For this review I was given 3 of their pouches, each can hold up to 6.5 ounces of yumminess! They were super easy to fill, the large opening on the side allows you to fill your pouch pretty much mess free, and the gusset on the opposite end allows the pouch to stand upright so you don’t have to hold it while filling. I tested my first pouch with some applesauce for my 2 year old. She was a little skeptical at first I think because it didn’t have the characters like the store bought pouches do, but in the end she loved it!
Now, if you have children you know you have to be careful when handing them anything with a zipper or an opening for that matter, because some how some way they always figure out how to open it, so I made Sopheria sit with me while eating her applesauce, while she did try to open it she was unable to. When you seal the side zipper the 2 flaps come together and it makes it hard for little fingers to figure out how to open it. Bonus in my opinion! Anything that won’t cause added mess is a must have in my book.
I personally was worried about how easy this would be to clean, but again with the large side opening it was super easy to clean. Some other good points to this product is the fact you can either hand wash or wash your pouches in the dishwasher, they are also freezer safe, these pouches have no BPA or Phthalates and each pouch can be reused about 15 times! So when you purchase your box you get 3 pouches that is 45 fill ups give or take a couple, Could you imagine how much 45 of those store bought pouches would cost you!? When you purchase from EZ Squeezees site you can get a 3 pack for only $9.99, compare that to the $2 per pouch cost of typical pouches and you save well over $80 plus you get healthier foods that you have made yourself!
Their website says these pouches can be used from 0+ age group, I have to say the little guys who are just learning to eat might make a bit of a mess but I am sure these pouches would be much easier than a jar and spoon! I love how convenient they are though, I can just grab one fill it and throw it in the diaper bag for the road, that’s what originally got me onto using pouches in the first place, have you ever tried to feed a kid in the car out of a jar? It’s not pretty, I will tell you that! Then again with these pouches I just remove the screw on lid and hand it over for them to eat. Another great use is for all those mamas who babywear…I know anything my daughter eats while on my back usually ends up in my hair and down my back but when she eats her pouches while being worn there really is no mess and I don’t wear half of it!
Here are just a few ideas I have had when it came to how handy these pouches would be…
- My son’s lunch box for school
- Field trips
- Car rides
- Dinner time – you can customize the food you put into your pouch, blend up some meat and potatoes for your little one and have less clean up from the dinner table.
- At the beach – no worries about sand getting in
- At the Pool
- At the Movies or drive ins
- Do you like smoothies? Blend up your favorite smoothie and put in the pouch and take it to the gym with you
The list is endless and the fact you can fill these bad boys with anything you want makes it that much better!
