When my son was younger, about 3 or 4 he absolutely adored Thomas the Tank Engine, we had enough track to go from one end of our apartment, loop around and go back to the beginning. We had Thomas everything, so when he finally outgrew it I was so excited, I donated all his Thomas things to charity so another little boy could enjoy them. Almost 2 years ago I had my daughter, the thought of Thomas never crossed my mind until we got this nifty little Thomas in the mail.
She immediately squealed with delight and yelled “choo choo traaaiiinnn” in that sweet little voice of hers. I just had to chuckle, here we go again I knew it! This Thomas I admit is totally awesome though, not only does the little light on the front of him light up, but when you press the button on top he talks.
I am all about finding toys and other items to stuff in my kids Easter baskets to avoid the whole “sugar rush” with a basket full of candy, so this is another one of those items I would definitely pick up at the store and stuff into her basket. The only issue now is my son wants one too and his little sister is not about to share her Thomas.
From a parent’s perspective I have to say this toy is great, it is a metal train with solid wheels that will not fall off easily, and I know because this train has been thrown across the room, tramped on (and let me say it wasn’t much fun) and has even been on a trip into the bath tub for some bubbly fun. The package labels this particular train recommended for ages 3+. My daughter will be 2 at the end of March this year and I allow her to have the toy without constant adult supervision. While there probably is a chance a piece could come off or break I personally think that would be very unlikely, this toy is very well made, but I leave that choice up to each of you based on your children and own personal comfort level. My kids never did play with toys that were appropriate for their age group, we were always ahead of the game in this department.
