If you’re a long time follower, you probably know that E is a huge fan of Yo Gabba Gabba! Last Thursday, I let her know that we would be attending a performance of A Very Awesome Yo Gabba Gabba! LIVE! Holiday Show and she was thrilled! For the last week, just about all she has talked about is going to see “Gabba Gabba!” She had told everyone that she was going to the show including friends, family, and even strangers! She was beyond excited and I was totally feeeling like Mom of the Year!
E was extremely cranky before the show because of a missed nap but as soon as we walked into the Beacon Theatre and took our seats, a few rows from the stage, she instantly perked up! Once DJ lance and the Gabba gang were on stage, She was hooked and her eyes were transfixed as she saw her favorite characters on stage!
Just minutes into the show, Confetti shot over the crowd which covered those seated in the center orchestra area. It was so exciting for E to see and her face lit up as the confetti fell onto parents and children! Later, more confetti and even “snow” shot over the crowd. The expressions of the children in the theatre were priceless as they seemed to be amazed by the falling confetti!
E was completely entranced by the dancing Yo Gabba Gabba characters on stage. She danced and even sang along to some of her favorite Yo Gabba Gabba songs! During the intermission, I asked her if she had a favorite part of the show so far and she responded, “I love it all, mommy.” Just hearing that put a huge grin on my face!
I personally enjoyed Leslie Hall reading a holiday story to the audience. I love her gem sweaters and think she’s great on the show so getting to see her on stage was a treat for me. I can’t forget to mention that her Christmas themed gem sweater was AMAZING (I wish I had a better photo of it)!
After a short intermission, Biz Markie took the stage with his Beat of the Day. Kids and parents beat boxed (or attempted to beat box) along with Biz! Biz then got on the turn tables and had everyone dancing to classic songs you might be familiar with!
The whole show was very visually appealing and the music was wonderful! Even I knew every song that was performed on stage. I was totally singing along the whole time and if you know the lyrics, you will be too! Not only did the Yo Gabba Gabba LIVE! performance include favorites like “I Like To Dance” and “Party In My Tummy,” they also included some fun Holiday songs that your children might recognized from their favorite Yo Gabba Gabba Holiday episodes such as “A Very Awesome Christmas” (Season 4, Episode 1) which happens to be a YGG episode E watches over and over again during the holiday season.
This was my first time seeing a performance at the Beacon Theatre and it truly was a lovely venue. The seats were roomy and comfortable. There was plenty of foot room and room for toddlers (and parents) to dance! It was a definitely a perfect choice of venue to see Yo Gabba Gabba LIVE!
If you’re like me, you might be concerned with how long the show is. Well, The show is about 80 minutes long with a 20 minute intermission which I think is perfect, especially with this age group since some toddlers and preschoolers tend to get restless (I know my toddler does).
A Very Awesome Yo Gabba Gabba! LIVE! Holiday Show was amazing and I am so happy that we were able to experience it! We left the theatre after the “Goodbye” song which E kept singing, even as we got onto the subway train.
A Very Awesome Yo Gabba Gabba! LIVE! Holiday Show is definitely a must see this Holiday season and I highly recommend it! So, skip any other holiday show you might have considered and bring your little one(s) to A Very Awesome Yo Gabba Gabba LIVE! Holiday show! Be prepared to sing, dance, and have a great time with your kids!
